How can I find the annual report of the company XYZ?
Annual reports / financial statements of listed companies are available in a number of sources:

How can I find the financial ratio of company XYZ?
Financial ratios for listed companies are available at the library subscribed database Datastream, which is available at the dedicated terminal at the Library. Financial ratios for listed companies are also available at some library-subscribed databases including Hoover's Pro, Factiva and LexisNexis Academic.

What are the call numbers for economics / Chinese fictions / accounting books?

Hints: you can browse the book collection by call numbers online: For example,

HK Law Cases
How can I find Hong Kong law cases?
Hong Kong law cases are available in the Library:
- Hong Kong Law Reports & Digest (SER KNR2.23.A2 H68)
- Hong Kong Cases (REF KNR6.3 .H65).
- All England Law Reports (law cases from UK are still relevant to Hong Kong.)
Court judgments from 1946-48 and 1966 onwards are available online:

Journal Manuscript Submission Guidelines
How can I find out the manuscript submission guidelines of a journal?
Manuscript submission guidelines for many academic journals are available at the publishers' web site. In addition to searching the Internet for the journal home page, you can also search
which is a journal information database including journal home page.
Alternatively, you can fill out the Journal Information Request form, an online service rendered by the Library to provide information on guidelines for manuscript submissions, editorial policy, subscription rate, etc. to staff of Lingnan University.
Journal Ranking
How can I find the ranking of a journal?
Generally speaking, there are no official rankings for academic journals. One often used indicator, however, is the impact factor reported in the Journal Citation Report by Thomson Scientific.
The impact factor is a weighted index to reflect how often the articles in a particular journal are being cited. The Library has the Journal Citation Report (in CD-ROM format), Social Sciences Citation Index Edition up to 2002. Latest editions of the Journal Citation Report are available in Web of Knowledge subscribed by some other local universities. Local Television (LTV) Programmes
How can I find out what local TV programmes are recorded and archived by the Library?
You can browse or search for local TV programmes by checking out the following web pages:
Some of the programmes can be viewed online inside the Library or on the campus network. Others can only be viewed by checking out the videos in VCD / DVD format.
You can also search for local TV programmes through the Library Online Catalogue. Conduct a search by (title, author, keyword, subject), then use the Limit this search or Modify Search button to narrow down by Material Type -- Local TV Programme. For example, click here to search for LTV programs on pollution.

How can I find newspaper clippings of Hong Kong?
- WiseNews -- major source of current news (particularly business news) for Hong Kong, covering news stories from 1998 onwards.
- Hong Kong Newspaper Clippings Index -- newspaper clippings from 1980 up to 1999.

Fulltext Articles
I find this article in ProQuest (or other online databases) with no full text online. How can I get the full article?
Try the following steps:
- Check if you can find the WebBridge icon (
) on the page. If so, click the icon or link to find out whether a print version or electronic version may be available from another source.
- Use the journal name as title and perform a title search in the Library Catalogue. The journal may be available in print format or in electronic format from another database subscribed by the Library.
- If you are eligible for interlibrary loans, make an interlibrary loan request.
- Alternatively, you may try to get a substitute item by searching the same subject terms and/or author(s).
- Contact us for additional help if necessary.
Statistical Information
How can I find the latest statistics of Hong Kong?
Most of the commonly used Hong Kong statistics are published in the Hong Kong Annual Digest of Statistics (REF HA1950.H6 A2). You may also want to do a subject word search on hong kong statistics; then limit the search by subject words or title words on the specific topic needed. Some useful web pages include:

How can I find the latest statistics of China?
Most of the commonly used China statistics are published in the Statistical Yearbook of China (in CD-ROM format and print fomat: REF HA4631 .S832). You may also want to do a subject search on china statistics; or do a keyword search on china statistics and then limit your search by subject words or title words on the specific topic needed.
China InfoBank provides very comprehensive statistical information of China. Various electronic databases like Datastream, CEIC Premium China Database, China monthly statistics, etc. also provide useful statistics in electronic format. (available only at the Library)

How can I find the latest statistics of USA, Japan, UK, Singapore and Brazil?
Other than the corresponding nation's own statistical publications, the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund publications provide good statistical sources for comparative studies. Some titles like the Statistical Yearbook by the United Nations (in CD-ROM and print format: REF HA12.5 .U63) and the World Development Reports (in CD-ROM and print format: REF HC59.7 .W659) are popular sources of statistical information.
Datastream is a very good source for economic and financial indicators for countries in the world. It is available at a dedicated terminal in the Library.
The Library also subscribes to International Financial Statistics Online by IMF, which provides macroeconomic statistics for cross-country comparison.

Where can I find the past examination papers for the course Critical Thinking?
Find the Lingnan Examination Database link under Databases (http://www.library.ln.edu.hk/eresources/) or access this URL directly: http://www.library.ln.edu.hk/exam/. This database is restricted to Lingnan Access only.
Enter the course name e.g. critical thinking at the search field to find all the past examination papers for this course.
Please note :
- some examination papers may be withheld at the request of the lecturer.
- no answers to the questions are available in the Database.
- print copies of past exam paper are kept in the Reading Room on the 1/F of the Library
Where can I find master / doctoral theses of past Lingnan students?
For online access of Lingnan Theses and Dissertations, you can visit this webpage: http://www.library.ln.edu.hk/ethesis/. Full-text and abstract of theses are provided for most theses but access restrictions may apply to some theses.
Print copy of theses can be requested in person at the Circulation Counter.
Where can I find student projects in the Library?
The Library keeps electronic copies of some student projects online at http://www.library.ln.edu.hk/lingnan/studpub/?page_id=1288. Some print copies are kept in the Reading Room of the 1/F. You can check the library catalogue for the availability of the projects.
